About Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a holistic healthcare system by which our professional objective is to detect and correct what are known as “spinal subluxations”: the misalignment and loss of movement of one or more vertebrae in the spinal column. Subluxations have a damaging effect on the ability of the nervous system to function well, which often results in pain and other symptoms.

These conditions are treated by “chiropractic adjustment” a highly specific yet gentle thrust into a restricted joint in order to restore spinal and nervous system function. Common conditions for which chiropractic care is sought include: back pain, neck pain, headache, migraine, “sciatic symptoms”, leg pain and other neuro/muscular skeletal problems.

Chiropractors…
At the Spinal Health Clinic, the professional staff are fully qualified to degree level. All have undertaken a minimum 4 year course at university and attained either BSc (Chiro) or MSc (Chiro). Additionally, they are registered with the General Chiropractic Council, the British Chiropractic Association or the United Chiropractic Association.

Massage Therapists…
In certain cases, depending on the Chiropractor’s diagnosis, a straightforward course of massage may be recommended.

This treatment may be undertaken by an appropriately qualified Massage Therapist, working under the Chiropractor’s guidance.

…and the Patients
According to research commissioned by the British Chiropractic Association, back pain is experienced by no less than one person in three – a significant percentage of whom have suffered over a period of 10 years or longer.
